tis the season to be jolly…

Ladies and gentlemen, its official… the “Silly Season” has officially started. I don’t know about you but my calendar is quickly filling up with parties and catch-ups. So here is my go to look when I need something quick and easy that can take me from the office to the bar or party – whichever :) So if you’d like to see how I got this look -read on!

*WARNING* this is a super simple look with maximum impact 😉

~ STEP 1 ~

Firstly I prime my eyes my trusty Too Faced Shadow Insurance with just my finger and MAC Cosmetics Soft Ochre Paint Pot with my Sigma Brush P80 Precision Flat Brush. Using  my E40 Tapered Blending Brush I set it with a mixture of Peach Smoothie and Beaches & Cream both by Makeup Geek.

~ STEP 2 ~

Taking Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner and line my upper lash line dragging it out into a cat eye flick. To help keep the line nice and sharp, I like to take my Sigma E06 Liner Brush and a touch of eye makeup remover and gently wipe underneath and upwards. Finishing the eyes off by applying a couple of coats of Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara.

~ STEP 3 ~

Firstly I apply my foundation (new routine coming) etc. then i finish off my applying my bold lip. As the eye are pretty basic you can go with any colour here. So I’ve included three options below…

~ OPTION 1 ~

Perfectly Pink: Lined my lips with Chanel Lip Pencil in No. 55 Fuschia, with Kardashian Beauty Joystick Lip Stick Pen in Shocking Pink over the top.

Risky Red: Lined my lips with MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Cherry with Lady Danger Matte Lipstick, again by MAC Cosmetics, on top.
Plum-tastic: Lined my lips with MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Currant with Cremesheen Lipstick in Hang-up over the top.

And there you have it – here is my first holiday look of the season. Hope you like and stay tuned till next time :)

I love and adore wearing neutral shades – but sometimes, like in life, its good to break routine and try something new. In my case I chose to use colour for a different take on a smokey eye. So, if you’d like to see how I created this look then read on 😉

~STEP 1~

You should always prime your eyes, as I’ll be creating a bold look the last thing i want is to have any creasing with my shadows. As always I turn to my trusty combo of Shadow Insurance by Too Faced Cosmetics, with a thin layer of Soft Ochre Paint Pot by MAC Cosmetics. I then set it with Blanc Type shadow also by MAC Cosmetics. Taking my E35 Tapered Blending Brush by Sigma and the shade Soft Brown by MAC Cosmetics and blend that into and above my crease – this will be my transition colour.

~STEP 2~

Darkening up my crease by adding Texture from MAC Cosmetics using my E35 Blending Brush by Sigma and blending it until the Soft Brown and Texture blend seamlessly. You can repeat this as many times as you like depending on how dark you want it to be.

~STEP 3~

Here is where the fun begins… Taking the shadow Fig. 1 by MAC Cosmetics on my 217 Blending Brush again, by MAC Cosmetics I apply it in my outer V and into my crease and the inner corner of my eye creating what is known as the “halo effect”. So depending on how intense you want this colour to appear keep adding more of this shade and blending out till all the colours transition nicely.

~STEP 4~

As I want this to be a really dramatic look I take the colour Sketch by MAC Cosmetics and place it in the same place as where Fig. 1 is. however just a below it as I want to keep both colours. I use my E45 Tapered Blending Brush by Sigma for a more precise application.

~STEP 5~

For the star of this look I take my new, favourite pressed shadow by Colourpop – I Heart This and place it in the middle of my lid with my finger, blending it into inner and outer edges. As I want this to be an intense look I repeat this until Im happy with it.

~STEP 6~

Traditionally when I do a smokey eye i don’t usually do a winged liner, however i still like to line my lashes. Here I take Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Eye Pencil in Jet and line my lash line then taking my E06 Winged Liner Brush by Sigma and smudge out the liner.

~STEP 7~

Now you can either apply a couple coats of mascara and call it a day, or you can go a step further. As I want this to be a more intense look, I chose to apply some bold lashes so I went with “Ashley” by Flutter Lashes.

To finish off this look I apply my foundation – if you want to see how I do that click here. Then taking a combination of Fig. 1 and Sketch on my MAC Cosmetics 215 Medium Shader Brush and line my lower lash line – finishing it off with a couple of coats of mascara and… TA DAAAAAAAA!!!! You’re done!

Well I hope you liked this different take on a smokey eye. If you decide to try it let me know!

Till next time XOXO
