30 Day Challenge – FINAL WEEK –

Apologies for the delay my loves, I’ve been a bit sick this week so I was a tad behind in creating the last of my looks… However I’m all better now and have managed to catch up. Anyway – here I am, in the final leg of my self-imposed 30 Day Challenge. I will admit there have been days where I found it difficult to think of what to do or if I was going to execute it in time to be ready for work 😉  So I hope I managed to keep them interesting and different enough for you guys – let me know what you think :)

Day 24. I wanna be famous – Every now and I see a celebrity on the red carpet at a special event, movie premier, award ceremony etc that makes me think wow! Something about the look makes me do a double or even a triple take. I think these are my favourite looks to tackle mainly because it’s a challenge for me to copy or try a tricky style or adapt it to suit my eye shape. I know for a fact there are a few celebrities that are favourites for me but one that I just love is the ever gorgeous Mila Kunis – I love way she wears such luxurious browns and golds together and don’t even get me started on when she wears a smokey eye. So todays look was inspired by her. I hope I was able to do her justice.

iwannabefamous

1.  Primed my lid by using my faithful MAC Paint Pot in Painterly

2.  Applied All that Glitters by MAC all over my lid

3.  Using a mixture of Bronze and Mulch by MAC into my crease and on my outer “V” extending it upwards and outwards so as to lift my eye – all the while ensuring it is blended out

4.  Taking a soft kohl black eyeliner, I used Rimmel’s Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eye Liner, line the top of your lid then using an angled eyeliner brush – smudge it out to soften the line

5.  Taking the colour Luna from the Sigma Resort Palette I highlighted my inner corner and tear duct

6.  Coating my top and bottom lashes with my Goddess Mascara by Eye of Horus

7.  Finishing off the look by applying my new favourite lashes in style No. 1 by Lashes in a Box

Day 25. Contour – Made famous by Kim Kardashian (love her!) – contouring has become a common step in my makeup routine – however I have to say it surprises me that for a lot of women, contouring is often a skipped step. In my opinion when you apply foundation to your entire face, you are creating a blank canvas, making it critical to go back and add the dimensions back in. Technically, contouring is about shadows and light; if you’ve ever taken an art class you’ll know that you use darker shading to push an area inward and lighter shading to pull an area outward. So when contouring your face you use this method to help create the appearance of a stronger jaw line, more defined cheek bones, and a slimmer face or nose etc.

contour

1.  Applied my new favourite foundation – Revlon Colorstay Whipped foundation in colour True Beige and ensure it is blended down to my neck with my Beauty Blender sponge

2.  I know where my cheekbones are and have been practising this for a while, however, if you are new to contouring I suggest you look in the mirror and suck in your cheeks – this instantly shows you where your cheekbones are

3.  Then taking your desired medium (bronzing powder/cream bronzer/darker cream foundation) with a flat-headed bronzer brush just slightly under cheekbones from the hollows to your ear

4.  Sweep bronzer in circular motions directly on temples. If, like me, you have a rather spacious forehead you can continue the contour along the hairline. You can also contour directly underneath your jaw line

5.  I then make sure I blend edges with my Beauty Blender sponge

6.  Finishing it off by setting it with my Ben Nye Bella Luxury Powder in Banana

Day 26. Bright times – For this look I chose some colours that I love, and think compliment each other very well. My look definitely created an impression around the office that day 😉 … bright times collage

1.  Started off by priming my eye using NYX’s Jumbo Pencil in Milk – blending that into my lid and up into my crease

2.  Using my Coastal Scents 252 Ultimate Palette I took a bright sky blue colour and placed that on my lid leaving the outer “V” bare

3.  Then from the same palette I took a dark violet shade and blended that into my outer “V” and into my crease

4.  Taking a mixture of the blue and purple colours I used I blended that underneath my eye along my lower lash line sweeping it upwards in a cat eye fashion

5.  Taking Luna from the Sigma Resort Pallete I highlighted my inner corner and tear duct

6.  Taking Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eye Liner in Black I tightlined my upper and lower waterline. Then taking Eye of Horus Liquid Define Liner I lined my lid

7.  Taking the Goddess Mascara by Eye of Horus I coated my top and bottom lashes

8.  I then applied my new favourite lashes No. 1 lashes Lashes in a Box Lastly I take my Sephora Collection Glitter Eyeliner in Black and go over my black liner I created earlier

9.  Using my Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eye Liner in Nude, I draw a line in between the top and bottom shadow separating the two thus creating a double line effect.

Day 27. Video Killed the Radio Star – I don’t know about you, but I tend to get a lot of my inspiration from music videos. Some of my personal faves that I look to time and time again are Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, and Lana Del Ray. I love that they range from the crazy colourful to the beautiful and eye-catching. So for todays look I took inspiration from the gorgeous, age defying, Jennifer Lopez – in her new clip “Live it Up”. In this clip we see her with a sultry smokey eye, a bronzed golden eye and a very out there mustard lip colour to a heavier sexy night-time look. Which one to choose? I went with the bronzed beach look. I love the other looks but this one just took my breath away – there is something about how luxurious the golden bronze looks on her eyes.

jlo live it up

video killed the radio star

1.  For this I primed my lid and lower lash line with NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Bronze – blending it into my lid and up into my crease

2.  to intensify this look I took MAC’s Pigment in colour Melon and applied that over the top and then taking it down to my lower lash line

3.  Using a mixture of MAC’s Mulch and Bronze I applied that to my outer “V” to smoke it out and add some depth

4.  Taking MACs Power Point Eye Pencil in colour Duck I lined my upper lash line and smoked it out with an angled eyeliner brush

5.  Using my Goddess Mascara I coated my top and bottom lashes heavily – unfortunately I ran out of time so I couldn’t add any falsies to my look but if you can I would advise adding in some Individual false lashes as it will really open up the eye further and give the eyes that lovely soft fluttery look that Jennifer has.

Day 28. Pop goes the Weasel – there are many ways you can make your eyes “pop” but my favourite is to use a color that contrasts with your natural eye color. Now, some of you might be thinking “how the heck am I supposed to know which colors to choose?” NEVER FEAR! The answer lies within the color wheel! How you might ask? Well, all you have to do is locate your eye color on the wheel and the color directly across is the perfect one for you! Keeping in mind you could also use a bit of your natural eye color, or a slightly darker version, to bring out the color!

Color_Wheel_hi_res_21153756

So for me, my eye colour is usually green but, as weird as it sounds, my eye colour greatly depends on what mood I am in, so when I am happy they are at their greenest. If you look at the colour wheel above you can see that for me my colours range from purple to orange and include rust colours and deep bronze’s. For todays look, see below…

pop goes the weazle

1.  Primed my eye using MAC’s paint pot in Painterly

2.  Taking a MAC pigment in colour Blue Brown – I chose this colour as it is a brown but with a blue-green pearl to it which should complement my green eyes – I then applied that all over my lid and into my crease

3.  Taking a mixture of MAC’s Cork, Quarry and Smut I smoked out the outer V and into my crease

4.  Taking Luna from the Sigma Resort Pallete I highlighted my inner corner and tear duct

5.  Using my Eye of Horus Liquid Define Liner I lined my lid

6.  Finishing off my look by coating my top and bottom lashes with Goddess Mascara by Eye of Horus and applied some false lashes No. 1 lashes Lashes in a Box – what do you think?

Day 29. Ombre –

This two-tone look subtly contours the mouth. A darker shade around the outer edge of the lip adds definition, while a slightly softer tone in the center reflects light and creates the illusion of fuller, juicier lips. In my opinion the key is to use two shades in the same color family. They should gradually fade into each other for a lovely ombré effect.

ombre

1.  The first and probably most important step is to prepare your lips. To do this I used my favourite lip scrub by Sara Happ  and then apply a nice thick coat of Lucas Papaw Lip Ointment (hands down the best out there – it is a miracle worker for any set of dry lips)

2.  I then applied a generous coating of foundation to my entire lip. Beware this tends to make you look super creepy, but it helps your lip to “pop” more and your lipstick to last longer.

3.  Next I applied a nude lipstick (I chose Shy Girl by MAC)  to my entire bottom lip. Once it was well blended I went in with the first color. I chose to use a lip pencil –  Le Crayon Lèvres Precision Lip Definer in colour 49 Rose Corail – applying this to my top lip and using the brush that comes with it, blending it out softly to top centre of my bottom lip. At this point I blended the pencil out, adding a little bit at a time, as necessary, until I had 3 fairly clear colors happening on my lower lip.

4.  The next color I added was 55 Fuschia (same Chanel Lip Pencil mentioned in step 3), I covered my entire top lip, but didn’t worry too much about getting too close to the edge of my top lip since I’d be covering that area with a darker shade anyways. At this point I also added significantly more of the Lip Pencil – 49 Rose Corail as mentioned in step 3 – to the innermost part of my bottom lip (still using the brush that came with the pencil)

5.  Now, here comes the tricky part…especially since it looked like horrible before I blended it out. I added MAC’s Candy Yum Yum lipstick along the top half of my upper lip, again, I didn’t worry about getting too close to the edge, I blended out from that point anyway.

6.  The next step was to blend. Depending on how confident you are you can use your little finger or a lip brush even a cotton tip – I used a mixture of a lip brush and my finger to blend out only the lipstick until it no longer looked harsh

7.  Then using  the same lip brush (I gave it a quick clean) I blended and precisely shaped the outer line of my lip and further blended the fuschia with the rose colors on my upper lip.

8. Taking my Lucas Papaw ointment I applied it gently by dapping over my lip so as my lips would look nice and glossy. And that’s THAT!

Day 30. Lashtastic – its amazing how such a simple eye can be transformed by adding a pair of false lashes – natural or slightly dramatic. For the look I had today I went with a slightly more dramatic set than I would normally wear… what do you think? Too dramatic or just right?

lashtastic

1.  Primed my lid with MAC’s paint pot in Painterly

2.  Applying MAC’s Blanc Type all over my lid and up to my brow bone. Then I Cut my crease with a mixture of MAC’s of Cork, Quarry and Smut – blending it out thoroughly

3.  I then lined my lid with Rimmel Glam Eyes Professional Liquid Liner in black and flicking it out at the ends to create the desired cat eye effect

4.  Finishing off my look by coating my top and bottom lashes with my Goddess Mascara – then applying my No. 4 false lashes by Lashes in a Box.

SO! THERE WE HAVE IT! I made it, I completed the 30 Day Challenge – albeit a tad late, but completed none the less. I hope you enjoyed it and don’t be afraid to let me know what you thought or what one was your favourite.

XOXO

30 Day Challenge – Week 3 –

So a third of the way through now and I will say that this week has been challenging – not so much because of the looks I had to complete, but more because of trying to stay on top of it with a hectic work schedule. Hope you like what you see…

Day 15. Fancy Dress – Luckily for me it was my gorgeous friend Sarah’s 30th and she was having a fancy dress – the theme: Red! After much thought I remembered this face chart Ihad seen that MAC had created for The Ace of Hearts. As I had always wanted to recreate it, what better time than now! So off I went to the MAC Pro store to source some form of body paint. I actually ended up going with the MAC Chrome Cakes. When sprayed directly with MACs FIX Plus they are able to be used just like face paint – except that the finish is matt and doesnt crack like regular face paint does. I took a red and a black in the chrome cakes however they didnt have any white :'( So I had to think outside the box. I needed something that was going to give me a fairly white base so I ended up going to The Makeup Store and purchasing a High Tech Lighter in INSERT COLOUR NAME HERE and a Microshadow in colour White. So here is how I completed my look… hope you like it :)

collage_fancy dress

1. While I love my thick dark brows, by no means can they just be covered up with a little foundation or white paint. So I needed something more dense – to block out my eye brow I took a glue stick I had at home and went over my brow with it, then taking little chunks off the stick I patted it down over my brow to cover it completely. When it was all covered I left it to set and to get nice and hard

2. Then, taking a pan cake type foundation in a neutral colour, I patted that over the top of the glue to blend it in with my skin

3. Once that was dried, I primed my face by using my Embryolisse 24Hr Miracle Cream and applied Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation (in True Beige) mixed with MAC Strobe Cream using my Beauty Blender sponge

4. To create the card I took my High Tech Lighter in INSERT COLOUR NAME HERE by The Makeup Store and patted that down over my eye and over my eyebrow to outline the shape for the card

5. I then went over the top of that with Microshadow in White by The Makeup Store which left me with a lovely pearly white colour instead of a flat white effect which is what I would have had if I’d used a face paint or something like that

6. Taking my MAC Chrome Cake in Red I spritzed it with MAC Fix Plus spray took a brush (an old paint brush I had lying around I would advise NOT using your good eyeliner brushes) and painted on the A’s and the hearts – top and bottom. Taking the Black Chrome Cake and using the same spray I then outlined the whole card

7. Moving over to my other eye I applied Bobbi Brown’s Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Starry Night 5 all over my lid and blended it up into my crease. Taking a black shimmery shadow from my Coastal Scents 252 ulitmate palette I applied that over the top of the cream shadow

8. Warmed up my crease using MACs Cork and applied my Goddess Mascara by http://www.eyeofhorus.com.au/ to my lashes

9. Taking a random pair of bold lashes I had by http://modelrocklashes.com/ (sorry they’re really old and I dont think they make them anymore) I applied them to the one eye

10. finsihing off my look I contoured my cheeks using a dark cream foundation from my MAQ Pro from the 6 colour Fard Creme Foundation palette, and applied MAC’s Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul using MAC’s Soft and Gentle to highlight my cheekbone. Applied MAC’s Russian Red to my lips and voilà I was ready!

Day 16. Bold is Gold – this look is based around a bright bold coloured lip. A lot of people when they think bold lip automatically think red, or pink. However I wanted to go a slightly different route and went with a bright coral red shade and kept my eyes very simple….

pop of colour

1. Primed my eyes with MAC’s paint pot in Soft Ochre

2. Using MAC’s Naked Lunch all over my lid and a little up into my brow bone

3. Cut my crease with Espresso by MAC

4. Lined my lid using my Liquid Define Liner and coating my lashes using my Goddess Mascara both by Eye of Horus

5. Lastly I applied YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in no. 12 Corail Incandescent

Day 17. Memoirs of a Geisha – Loved changing up this red lip by adding a rich gold centre…

memoirs of a geisha.jpg

1. Primed my lips with Lucas Paw Paw Ointment

2. Used Gorgeous Cosmetics lipstick in colour Bollywood and applied that all over my lips

3. Then using a flat eye brush – took MAC’s Old Gold pigment, laying it down gently & patting a thin layer of pigment onto my top lip

4. Then applied it to the bottom lip- I repeated this step 2more times so as to intensify the gold effect

5. I then used my new YSL Touché Éclat Radiant Touch to highlight and sharpen up the edges of my lips. I used my new cannon slr camera and editing software to get this shot – what a difference! I was able to get a much clearer and closer shot

Day 18. Fresh off the Runway – For today’s look my inspiration comes from Betsey Johnson’s 2012 Spring runway show. I remember seeing this and instantly I fell in love with it. I love the statement the bright lips make and teamed with the simple highlighting under the eye – gorgeous!

fresh off the runway

1. Primed my eyes with MACs paint pot in Painterly and placed MAC’s Nylon over my lid and up to my brow bone

2. Cut my crease with a mixture of MAC’s Espresso and Papaya from the Sigma Resort Palette

3. Lined my lower lash line with gold end of Sigma’s Brow highlighting pencil

4. I then went over the top of that with Luna from the same Resort palette

5. Lining my lid using my new favorite liner Liquid Define Eye liner by Eye of Horus Mascara

6. Finishing off my eyes with my new mascara again by Eye of Horus Mascara

7. For the final touch on my lips I used a combination of St Germain and Candy Yum Yum both by MAC.

Day 19. Here comes the bride – If I were getting married this would be the look I would go for – slightly smokey but not too harsh or dramatic. I want to look like me, just the best possible version 😉

here comes the bride

1. Primed my eye with MACs paint pot in Painterly and applied Naked Lunch by MAC, all over my lid and up to my brow bone

2. Cut my crease with Espresso by MAC

3. From the Sigma Resort Palette I took the colour Moonbeam and softly blended that just above my crease

4. I highlighted my tear duct with Napoleon Loose Dust in no. 37

5. Lining my lashes with Eye of Horus Liquid Define Eye liner, flicking it out to create a subtle cat eye effect

6. Coated my lashes using Goddess Mascara again by Eye of Horus

7. Finished off by applying my Model Rock lashes in style Miss Rosie to add a little extra flare to the outer corners of my eye.

For my base I kept it very light and natural, but made sure that I still had good coverage – so for this I used my Beauty Blender together with MAC Face & Body foundation. On my cheeks I used MACs Mineralize blush in Warm Soul and highlighted my cheekbones with MAC’s Soft and Gentle. On my lips I used MACs Cremesheen lipstick in the shade Shy Girl with MAC lipglass in the shade Cultured over the top.

Day 20. Bedazzle – this is not something for the every day – but maybe for a little fun, or fancy dress.

bedazzled

1. Primed my eye with MACs paint pot in Painterly

2. Applied a maroon coloured shadow by Kiko (Italian makeup brand) all over my lid

3. Cut my crease with a mixture of MACs Cork and Quarry

4. Highlighted my tear duct with Naked Lunch and Napoleon’s Loose Dust in no. 37

5. Lined my lid with Rimmels Glam Eyes Liquid Liner in black and dragged it out for a more dramatic cat eye effect

6. I then pressed on some Manicare Glam Eyes Crystal Face Jewels along top my eyeliner

7. Finished off by coating my lashes with Chanel’s Inimitable mascara in black

Day 21. Crazy Lines – added a little extra pizazz to my usual liner today…

crazy lines

1. Primed my eye with MAC’s paint pot in Soft Ochre and placed MAC’s Blanc Type all over my lid and up to my brow bone

2. I then cut my crease using my favourite combination of Cork and Quarry both by MAC

3. Lined my lid using Rimmel’s Glam Eyes Liquid Liner in black flicking it outwards to create a cat eye effect

4. Taking Sephoras liquid Glitter Eyeliner in Gold I placed a line along the top of my black line and followed the same cat eye flick

5. Finishing off the eyes by coating them with Goddess Mascara by Eye of Horus.

Day 22. Blue Lagoon – there’s something about a deep blue smokey eye that I find super sexy. I was wearing all black that night and I wanted to wear a smokey eye but didnt want to do black as I would have felt like some sort of Goth Emo wannabe.

blue lagoon

1. Primed my eye with MACs paint pot in Painterly

2. Used NYX Jumbo Pencil in Peacock placing it all over my lid and blended it up to my crease

3. Using MAC’s Freshwater placing that over the top then using Contrast over the top to smoke it up a bit

4. Taking MAC’s Cork placing it in my crease to soften it up

5. Taking the same NYX jumbo pencil lined my lower lash line, sealing it with MACs Contrast

6. Finished up by lining my lids using Liquid Define Liner and coating my lashes using the Goddess Mascara both byy Eye of Horus.

Day 23. Disco Tech – glitter glitter glitter – Who doesn’t love glitter? I know I do. So seeing as today was SUPER gloomy and rainy, it seemed fitting to add a little sparkle to help brighten it up. I do have to say this was my favourite look of the week…

collage_disco

1. Primed my eye using MACs paint pot in Painterly

2. Placed MAC’s Jest all over my lid

3. Cutting my crease using MACs Cork and Haux

4. Applied a bit of Duo lash glue on my lid then quickly patted the glitter (sorry don’t know the brand I’ve had it forever) over the glue

5. Taking Rimmels Glam Eyes liquid liner in black I line my lid flicking outwards to create a cat eye effect

6. Coating my lashes using my Goddess Mascara by Eye of Horus

7. Applied a pair of No.1 lashes from Lashes in a Box (http://www.lashesinabox.com/)

8. Finished off by lining my lower lash line using Carbon by Mac.

So there we have it babes, week 3 down! This was probably one of the more fun and testing weeks of the challenge. I’ve loved every day having to do something new and think of how I am going to try and incorporate that into my working life. So I hope you stay tuned for the final installment. I have also started to used my beautiful DSLR camera so I am looking forward to being able to produce much better quality pictures for my blog and portfolio :) Hope to hear from you and would love any feedback

Till next week xoxo

30 Day Makeup Challenge – Week 2 –

So I made it through the first week and I have to say it has been quite fun. So in week two it got a little more interesting with trying to figure out how I would make some of these wearble in the office…

Day 8. Turn Back time – The 1960s changed the face of fashion. Vidal Sassoon made the bob a popular hairstyle for women, the bikini became the popular choice of swimwear, sideburns were a thing for men and Twiggy brought modelling to a different level. It’s truly safe to say that the 1960s was a decade of change that continues to inspire people today. Having always been a major fan of this era (as well as the 50’s) this inspired me to create the look below:

turn back time

1. Primed my eye with MACs paint pot in Soft Ochre

2. Packed on Silver by MAC all over the lid and into the crease then patted Blanc Type again by MAC over the top

3. Just above my crease I created a new one by marking it in with a soft Khol black eyeliner pencil and smoked it out

4. Made the crease stronger by setting it with Carbon by MAC and blending it out

5. Lined my upper lash line with Rimmel’s Glam Eyes liquid liner in black and flicked it out to create a cat eye effect

6. Took the same soft Khol eyeliner and lined my lower lash line and blended that out then lined my water line

7. Finished off my eyes by coating my lashes heavily with Chanel’s Inimitable mascara

8. Final touch being St Germain by MAC on my lips

Day 9. Femme Fatale – by definition a Femme Fatale is a mysterious and seductive woman whose charms ensnare her lovers in bonds of irresistible desire, often leading them into compromising, dangerous, and deadly situations. The femme fatale today is still often described as having a power akin to an enchantress, seductress, having some power over men. To me, when I wear a my favourite red lipstick I can feel myself channeling the above…

femme fatale

1. Primed my lips using my favourite lip scrub by Sara Happ

2. Applied a generous amount of Lucas Paw Paw Ointment so as to nicely moisturise my lips

3. Finished off by applying a red lipstick in colour Garnet by Gorgeous Cosmetics

Day 10. I’m a Barbie Girl – What little girl didn’t play barbies, dress her up, brush her hair and admire her… I know I did – back in the day. So for today she was my inspiration:

barbie inspiration im a barbie girl

1. Primed my eye with MAC’s paint pot in Painterly

2. Put MAC’s Cork and Quarry into my crease

3. Took a bright pink and fuchsia colour from Coastal Scents 252 Ultimate palette and blended that just above my crease

4. Using the same Coastal Scents palette I took a pale white shimmery colour and placed that all over my lid

5. Lined my lashes using Rimmel’s Glam Eyes liquid liner in black

6. Coated my lashes with Chanel Inimitable Mascara in black

7. Placed a pair of Ardell lashes in 120 Demi black

8. Finishing off the look by placing a mixture of Mac’s Candy Yum Yum and St Germaine.

Day 11. Favour Me – While this look is a mixture of all my favourite products, its mainly a focus on the base that I do most days. So here goes:

favour me

1. Start off my ensuring my foundation has a decent starting point by priming my skin with Embryolisse 24Hr Miracle Cream

2. Then taking MAC’s Studio Sculpt Foundation (my colour is NW 25) and mixing in a little bit of MAC’s Strobe Cream – I apply that with my Beauty Blender all over my face and blend into my neck

3. I then prime my eyes using MACs paint pot in Soft Ochre

4. Taking MAC’s Blanc Type I apply that all over my lid and up to my brow bone – cutting my crease with a mixture of Cork, Quarry and Smut

5. Then lining my lid using Rimmel’s Glam Eyes liquid liner in black and finishing off my eyes – coating them with Chanel’s Inimitable Mascara in black

6. Taking my Bobbi Brown Corrector I conceal my dark under eye circles finishing it with MAC’s Prolongwear concealer and setting it with Ben Nye’s banana powder

7. I contour my cheeks using a cream foundation by MAQ Pro from the 6 colour Fard Creme Foundation palette

8. Using MAC’s mac Mineralize blush in Warm Soul I apply it to the apples of my cheeks and sweep up towards my ear then highlighting my cheekbones with Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle

9. Finishing it all off by setting my makeup with a light dusting of MAC’s Sheer/Loose powder and a spritz or two of MAC’s Fix Plus spray

Day 12 & 13 – Smokey Jo and Bronze Goddess – Due to having some extensive dental work done on my teeth :( I had to merge day 12 into Day 13… there is nothing that says sexy to me like a good come hither – smokey eye. Its so simple yet so effective – if done correctly. I think one of the biggest mistakes women do is to put black eyeshadow on their entire lid and bottom and think they have a smokey eye. Sorry, this just doesn’t work. You HAVE to blend!! Also, don’t pile on layers and layers of black eyeshadow. You have to slowly build the color and blend in between. As for my bronze goddess look I wanted to get the effect of nicely sun kissed skin NOT looking like I had spent a year in a tanning bed or rubbing a bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos on my face! So, to comeplete these two looks I did the following:

Smokey joe and bronze goddess

SMOKEY EYE

1. Primed my eye with Bobbi Browns Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Starry Night 5

2. Then I packed on a pretty shimmery silver black colour from my Coastal Scents 252 Ultimate palette across my lid (though photos don’t do the shimmer justice)

3. Lightly blended that colour up into my crease

4. Taking MAC’s Cork I blended that over the black into my crease to soften it out

5. I then tightlined my upper lashline and lined my lower waterline with Rimmels Scandaleyes waterproof kohl liner in black

6. Finished off my lashes with Chanel Inimitable mascara in black.

BRONZE GODDESS

1. Taking my Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel bronzing makeup base (a MUST HAVE for summer) under my foundation to give it that sun kissed colour without having to go with a darker foundation

2. Personally I don’t like using bronzers as a blush, so to get a more bronzed cheek but still keeping a slightly flushed look I went with MAC’s Mineralize blush in Warm Soul (such a gorgeous colour and suits most skin tones)

3. Finishing off by highlighting my cheek bones with MAC’s Soft and Gentle to help emulate a lovely glow to the skin.

Day 14. Green eyed Monster – Green was on the agenda today so rather than go for a green shadow on my lid I went for something a little different…

green eyed monster

1. Started off as usual by priming my eye with my faithful MAC paint pot in Soft Ochre and applied that all over my lid and up to my brow bone

2. Applied Blanc Type all over my lid and up to my brow bone

3. Taking MAC’s Rice Paper across my lid and over the top of that I put MAC’s All that Glitters

4. Cut my crease with a mixture of MAC’s Cork and Quarry

5. Lined my lid using Rimmel’s Glam Eyes liquid liner in black and flicking it out at the corners for a cat eye effect

6. On bottom last line I used NYX’s Jumbo Eye Pencil in Peacock following the same flick as my black liner

7. Then taking a bright grass green shadow from my Coastal Scents 252 Ultimate Palette I pressed it over the top of the NYX liner to create a bright green liner underneath my eye

8. Tightlined my eye with Rimmel Scandal’Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner in black – also lining my lower waterline

9. To finish it all off I coated my top and bottom lashes with Chanel Inimitable Mascara in black.

So there you have it folks – week 2 completed! I hope you enjoy as much as I have enjoyed getting creative each day. I would love to hear any thoughts or advice or anything really :) Thanks again and tune in next week for Week 3!

30 Day Challenge

There are lots of 30 day challenges out there which inspired me to put myself to the test and create my own. I started on the 1st June and have been working through my list day by day creating my looks. I have been sharing them on my instagram page – @krystalis_00 or @makeupbykrystle. However since I started my blog it only makes sense to put them up here and share them with you lovelies :) Hope you like them and would love to hear your thoughts.

The List

30 day challenge

The Challenge Starts

Week 1

Day 1. Bare it all – For those who know me and know me well know that I never ever go bare faced, except for when I am around the house or if Im sick. Say what you want but its not that I depend on makeup for my self confidence its just that I love it, I love the whole experience of putting it on and creating something different each day. So here I am – not a stitch on… my face that is 😉

bare it all

Day 2. Every Day – Because of my job, I like to keep it pretty simple on a day to day basis. I created this by doing the following:

1. Primed my lid with MAC’s paint pot in Soft Ochre

2. Cut my crease with a mixture of MAC’s of Cork, Quarry and Smut – blending it out thoroughly

3. Finishing it off with Chanel Liquid Liner pen in brown and a coat of Chanel Inimitable mascara in black.

Day 3. Feline – Who doesn’t love a good cat eye effect? Its such a simple way to make your eyes pop. To create this look:

1. Primed my lid with MAC’s paint pot in Soft Ochre and used MAC’s Blanc Type all over the lid and up to the brow bone

2. Cut my crease with a mixture MAC’s of Cork, Quarry and Smut – blending it out thoroughly

3. Packed Retrospeck onto my lid

4. Lined my lid with Rimmel Glam Eyes liquid liner in black and flicking it out at the ends to create the desired cat eye effect

5. Finish off by coating lashes with Chanel’s Inimitable mascara in black

1. Primed my eye with MAC’s paint pot in Painterly, cut my crease with a mixture of Cork and Quarry

2. Packed on a bright purple colour all over my lid (don’t know the colour sorry but it was from my coastal scents 252 ultimate palette)

3. Blended MAC’s Smut and Carbon into my outer V

4. Lined my lid with Rimmel Glam Eyes liquid liner in black

5. Finished off with coating lashes with Chanel Inimitable mascara in black

Day 5. Bright Lights – for those days when we need to appear more awake no matter how tired or hungover we really are 😉

1. Primed my eyes with MAC’s paint pot in Painterly and cut my crease with a mixture of Cork and Quarry

2. I then packed Half Baked, from the Naked palette, all over my lid

3. Then I took Darkhorse and Smog from the same palette and blended it into my outer V

4. I highlighted my tear duct with Napoleon Perdis’ White Gold (from the Gold Digger Glimmer set) then went over it with Napoleon’s loose dust in number 37

5. Lined my lashes with Rimmel Glam Eyes liquid liner in black

6. Finished off with coating my lashes with Chanel Inimitable mascara in black

Day 6. Caribbean Crush – inspired from a picture I saw of a beautiful pretty pink sunset in the Caribbean:

1. Primed my eye with MAC’s paint pot in Soft Ochre and cut my crease with a mixture of All that Glitters and Cork (both by MAC)

2. Using my Coastal Scents 252 Ultimate Palette I took a pretty shimmery coral colour on my outer V

3. From the same palette I used a fuchsia colour on my inner lid

4. Highlighted my tear duct with a strong yellow colour from the same palette

5. Lined my lid using Rimmel Glam Eyes liquid liner in black

6. Finished off with coating my lashes with Chanel Inimitable mascara in black

Day 7. Four Play – had a bit of a play using four different colours:

1. Primed my eye using MAC’s paint pot in Soft Ochre and cutting my crease with a mixture of Cork and Quarry

2. Packed on MAC’s All that Glitters all over the lid

3. Using Cork and Quarry again – blending them into my outer V

4. Placed Napoleon Perdis’ Loose Dust in number 37 over my lid
